Do I need an account to use the app?
No. What To Cook works without any sign-up. Your dietary profile, allergies, and saved recipes are stored on your device only.
Why does recipe generation need an internet connection?
Recipes are created by an AI model that runs on our server, so the app sends your ingredient list and preferences there when you tap "Generate recipe". Nothing else leaves your phone. Saved recipes can be viewed offline.
A recipe ignored my allergy — what should I do?
AI can make mistakes, so always double-check every ingredient before cooking if you have an allergy. If a generated recipe included something from your allergy list, please email us the recipe title and your allergy settings so we can improve the safeguards.
How do I change my diet, allergies, or serving size?
Open the app's profile screen and edit your dietary profile at any time. New recipes will respect the updated settings immediately.
Recipe generation failed or is slow.
First check your internet connection and try again. Generation is rate-limited to keep the service free, so very frequent requests may be briefly throttled — waiting a minute usually resolves it. If it keeps failing, email us with your device model and app version.
How do I delete my data?
Everything the app stores lives on your device, so uninstalling the app removes it all. Full details are on the Account & Data Deletion page.
Is the app really free? Are there ads?
The app is free to use and shows no ads. Fair-use rate limits apply to recipe generation to keep it that way.
